At Repton School Uniforms, we know that what students wear every day can have a lasting impact-not just on how they feel, but on the planet too. That's why we're making conscious decisions in how we design and produce our uniforms, with a clear focus on sustainability, responsibility, and long-term change.
This is not a finished journey. We're not claiming to be perfect-but we're moving forward with real action, every year.
Fabrics Made from Recycled Materials
The majority of our uniforms are now made using recycled polyester, which comes directly from post-consumer plastic bottles. Instead of ending up in oceans or landfills, this plastic is cleaned, broken down, melted, and spun into high-quality fiber that becomes part of our garments. It's the same durability and performance you'd expect from standard polyester-but with a much smaller environmental footprint. Every set of uniforms made with recycled polyester helps reduce plastic waste and cut down on the use of virgin materials derived from fossil fuels.

Smarter, Cleaner Technologies
We're also exploring and implementing new fabri technologies that improve not just how uniforms are made-but how long they last, and care for. Here are a few examples:
Low-impact dyeing: Our dyeing processes now use significantly less water and fewer harmful chemicals than traditional methods.
Durable design: We're focusing on uniforms that hold up longer-fewer replacements mean less waste.
Easy-care finishes: By making our fabrics more resistant to wrinkles and stains, parents can wash and iron them less often, saving both energy and water at home.
Why It Matters
Uniforms are worn daily, often for years. Choosing better materials and smarter manufacturing means reducing the environmental impact in a meaningful way not just once but over the entire life cycle of the garment. We're doing this because we believe schools should set the example. And we know there's more to do-more we can learn, more improvements we can make, and more partners we can work with to keep pushing forward.
